About

After college, I spent thirty years in Colorado working in project engineering, design, management and construction in the mining and minerals processing and midstream natural gas industries. In the middle of my professional career. I took nearly a decade to own and operate an ecologically-based forest restoration company.

Aside from my work, I was an elite mountain athlete engaged in cycling, skiing, trail running, and a variety of other pursuits including dirt biking, deep powder snowmobiling, elk hunting, and flyfishing. When I was getting close to retirement, I moved to Central Texas with my lovely wife, Genie and our beloved trail partners, Kelpy and Sage. I occupy my time by staying fit, writing, and playing guitar. Our home, outbuildings, and property sit on four acres which is enough to keep me busy with improvement projects and caring for the buildings and land. We live in a remote location, roughly equidistant (about an hour) from Austin and San Antonio. It is 105 degrees as I write this, nearing the end of the month of July.

I hope you will enjoy some of the stories about my life, dogs, wildlife, nature, music and guitar, and a sampling of the many adventures I’ve lived along the way. I enjoy writing on many subjects and would like to think that there’s something here for everyone.
